Terms of Service — VizBuddy

These Terms of Service govern your use of VizBuddy, a Chrome extension built and operated by Dmitri Spiropoulos ("we," "us," or "our") under the PlotStack brand. By installing or using VizBuddy, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before using the service.

1 Acceptance of Terms

By installing VizBuddy from the Chrome Web Store or accessing any part of the service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these terms, please uninstall the extension and discontinue use of the service.

2 Description of Service

VizBuddy is a Chrome browser extension that captures a screenshot of your active browser tab and sends it to a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) to generate an analyst-style summary of the visual content on screen. The service includes:

Structured analysis output — Headline, Summary, Watch Out For, and Confidence rating
Compose This — a feature that transforms analysis into a ready-to-send message in multiple tones
Analysis history — session-based for free users, 30-day persistent for Pro users

VizBuddy requires an active internet connection and a compatible version of Google Chrome to function.

3 Free and Pro Tiers

VizBuddy is available in two tiers:

Free tier — 5 analyses per day, 2 Compose This uses per day, session-only history. No account or credit card required.
Pro tier — 25 analyses per day, unlimited Compose This, 30 days of persistent cross-device history. Requires a paid subscription.

We reserve the right to modify the features included in each tier at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes to existing subscribers.

4 Payment and Billing

Pro subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis at the rate displayed at checkout and on our pricing page at vizbuddy.plotstack.dev. Current pricing is always available on our website. All payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing to Pro, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

Your subscription renews automatically on the anniversary of your billing date unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time through your account settings.

      Refund policy: We offer a 7-day refund window from the date of your initial Pro subscription purchase. After 7 days, payments are non-refundable. Annual subscriptions cancelled after the 7-day window will not be refunded for the remaining unused period.
    

All prices are in USD and do not include applicable taxes. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to your purchase under the laws of your jurisdiction.

5 Acceptable Use

You agree to use VizBuddy only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You agree not to:

Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of VizBuddy
Resell, sublicense, or provide access to VizBuddy to third parties as a service
Use VizBuddy to capture or analyze content you do not have permission to access
Attempt to circumvent daily usage limits or subscription restrictions
Use VizBuddy in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
Use VizBuddy to analyze content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights

6 Data and Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Here is how your data is handled in plain terms:

Screenshots: Screenshots captured by VizBuddy are transmitted directly to Anthropic's API to generate your analysis. They are not stored on our servers and are not retained after the API call completes.
Analysis results: For Pro users, analysis text results (Headline, Summary, Watch Out For, Confidence) are stored in our database to power the 30-day history feature. Screenshots are never stored.
Account data: Pro users provide an email address to create an account. This is stored securely in our database and used solely for authentication and subscription management.
Analytics: We collect anonymous usage events (analyses run, features used) via PostHog to understand how VizBuddy is used. No personally identifiable information is attached to these events.

7 Third-Party Services

VizBuddy relies on the following third-party services to operate:

Anthropic Claude API — powers the AI analysis. Subject to Anthropic's Terms of Service.
Stripe — processes payments for Pro subscriptions. Subject to Stripe's Terms of Service.
Supabase — stores Pro user account and history data securely.
PostHog — collects anonymous usage analytics.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or reliability of these third-party services. If a third-party service experiences an outage, VizBuddy may be temporarily unavailable or degraded. We will not issue refunds for downtime caused by third-party service outages.

8 AI Output Disclaimer

Important: The analysis generated by VizBuddy is produced by an AI model and is provided for informational purposes only. It may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. VizBuddy analysis should not be relied upon as professional financial, legal, business, medical, or investment advice. Always verify AI-generated insights independently before making decisions based on them.

We make no warranty that the analysis produced by VizBuddy is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. The quality of analysis depends on the clarity, completeness, and legibility of the visual content on your screen.

9 Intellectual Property

VizBuddy, including its name, logo, branding, code, and all associated materials, is owned by Dmitri Spiropoulos and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use the VizBuddy name, logo, or branding without our prior written consent.

You retain full ownership of any data, dashboards, or content you analyze using VizBuddy. We claim no ownership over your screen content or the analysis results generated from it.

10 Disclaimer of Warranties

VizBuddy is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

VizBuddy will be available at all times or free from errors
The AI analysis will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your purposes
VizBuddy will be compatible with all versions of Chrome or all websites
Any defects or errors will be corrected

Your use of VizBuddy is at your sole risk.

11 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Dmitri Spiropoulos and PlotStack shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of VizBuddy, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of VizBuddy shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $12.00 USD if you have not made any payments.

12 Termination

You may stop using VizBuddy at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling your Pro subscription if applicable.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to VizBuddy at any time if we determine you have violated these terms, with or without notice. If your account is terminated for a violation, you will not be entitled to a refund.

Upon termination of a Pro subscription, your persistent history will remain accessible in read-only mode for 30 days before being permanently deleted.

13 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify active Pro subscribers by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of VizBuddy after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

14 Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of VizBuddy shall be resolved in the courts located in California.
